Gail A. Niemann graduated magna cum laude from the University of Illinois Law School in 1979, where she was a member of the University of Illinois Law Review. Gail has over 30 years of experience, working for a litigation-focused national law firm, in-house for a large publicly-traded corporation, and in state and local government as a litigator and general counsel.
Before joining Massey & Gail, Gail worked at Jenner & Block for thirteen years as an associate and then equity partner. While there, she represented a broad range of clients in civil litigation matters in state and federal court, and specialized in class actions, complex commercial litigation, and securities litigation. She also worked for four years for a Fortune 100 telecommunications company where she oversaw the company’s litigation in a five-state area, including competitive and antitrust litigation, class actions, commercial litigation, and defense of tort and employment litigation. She also worked closely with the company’s federal and state regulatory counsel. Ms. Niemann has also represented the City of Chicago in constitutional and commercial litigation, served as General Counsel for the Chicago Housing Authority, and worked as the General Counsel to two different State of Illinois agencies—the Illinois Departments of Revenue and Commerce and Economic Opportunity. She has also represented pro bono clients in both criminal and civil matters, most recently concerning immigration and employment discrimination issues.
