Massey & Gail LLP is proud to have represented, pro bono, an incarcerated individual in his lawsuit challenging the conditions of his confinement at the thankfully now-closed Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet, Illinois. Partner Constance Grieves and Associate Brigid Carmichael undertook the representation as part of the Northern District of Illinois’ Settlement Assistance Program for pro se plaintiffs. After completing discovery and defeating the defendants’ motion for summary judgment, they secured a $15,000 settlement for their client.
