Complex commercial litigation boutique, Massey & Gail LLP, is pleased to invite first-year law students to apply for the position of Summer Intern in our Chicago office. We are interested in applicants who see themselves as future trial and appellate lawyers who have a passion for the law. This means, for example, a genuine desire to “dig in” to the facts or the law, to help develop and craft arguments, and to engage in the business of advocacy and persuasion.

The summer intern will work directly with and learn from the firm’s top flight partners and associates on the firm’s actual matters, with opportunities to conduct legal research and analysis, develop and improve their legal writing, and understand how complex commercial cases are constructed and managed. Interns in prior years have had the opportunity to not only observe but actually support the firm’s lawyers in multi-million-dollar trials. Previous interns have praised the tremendous mentorship and professional development they received during their time with us.

The 10-week program offers a salary of $1,300 per week.

To apply, please send a resume, law school transcript, and personal statement to info@masseygail.com by January 16, 2026. Applicants are welcome to supplement their application with their 1L grades once they become available. Personal statements should address the applicant’s professional history and interests, as well as what the applicant hopes to gain from the internship. The personal statement should not exceed 500 words.
