The NAUDL's “I RESOLVE” Public Debate Series
Massey & Gail is proud to serve as the exclusive presenting sponsor for a series of public debates by high school students this fall under the auspices of the National Association for Urban Debate Leagues (NAUDL). The inaugural “I RESOLVE” debates took place in the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, and Chicago throughout the fall of 2020, addressing the pressing issue of criminal justice reform. I RESOLVE will continue the series in spring 2021 with the Tulsa Debate League, where the topic will be the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and the discussion of reparations. Each event features a 90-minute virtual program showcasing the power of high school debate for a public audience, including panels of prominent judges, lawyers, law professors, educators, and civic leaders.
The NAUDL is dedicated to bringing competitive academic debate to under-resourced school districts. Massey & Gail and its partners have been longtime and prominent supporters of the NAUDL. Indeed, Jonathan Massey and Lenny Gail met as high school and college debate rivals. Both credit academic debate as a life-changing experience in their own lives, and they are committed to bringing its educational benefits in vulnerable communities.
